My Rolodex
I'm pretty fussy about whom I work with. And when I recommend someone, they better live up to my standards or they quickly go onto a black list. So the recommendations below have been tested. And they do a stellar job. Some of them I work with and continue to work with myself. Some come highly recommended by colleagues whose judgement I trust very highly. None of these people below give me a commission. They're good at what they do, and that's why I recommend them.
Some of them don't even have websites, so these resources aren't easy to find online.

1) Transcription Services:
Nirmala D'Mello: I'd recommend Nirmala. She does all our transcriptions and she's worked with us long enough to know the difference between speaking and the written word. So if your grammar is a bit wonky when you speak (and it happens to all of us, because when we speak, we can't go back and erase our words like we can on paper) she'll fix it. She won't put in ahs, ums, etc. And she's very easy to work with as a person. Yes you'll be outsourcing to India, 🙂 But be assured that I've searched for good transcription services for a long time, and Nirmala meets with Renuka's approval (Renuka is my wife). As you can imagine, if you know Renuka, that standard is pretty high.
Pros: Efficient. Knows her stuff. The best I know (and I know a lot). And you won't run into ego problems.
Cons: May take two to three days to respond to your email. You need to let her know when things are urgent.
Email Nirmala: nirmala.d@rediffmail.com
Website: Non-existent
Fees: Approx US$55-60 per hour of your material (Be aware that an hour takes about 5 hours to transcribe)
2) Fulfillment House
www.mimeo.com
I use them all the time. And they're absolutely stunning. Absolutely. They're the complete opposite of stupid fulfillment houses. All your stuff can be done via the web. And they're located right next to the Fed Ex hub, so only Superman could deliver faster. I'd like to go on, but their website is a treat and answers all your questions.
Pros: Fully Integrated, whiz bang system
Cons: None that I know of
Website: http://www.mimeo.com
Fees: On the website
SpellChecking Tool
Ys yuo read that rite. If your splling isn't all it should be, and if you need a spellcheker that will comb yore entire site for mistkaes, then you need to take advanatage of this spllchecker. You'll be amazed at how many mistkaes your site may contain.
When you submit your site via the box below, you also qualify for a 20% discount. This is not available to the public, and is just a special for 5000bc members.
Pros: It checks every darn spelling on your site.
Cons: Can't check within password protected sites
Website: www.spellwonder.com
(The discount only kicks in, if you put your website in the box above, and not via the www.spellwonder.com link.
Box and EBook Design Creator
Do you have the need for an ebook or box design. Well look no further than Lizette Driessen. She does a wonderful job, and doesn't just slap on fonts and colours together to create your box, book etc.
Website: www.herpreneurs.com
Pros: Lizette is a warm person to work with it. And she works to deadline. Prices are low at the point of writing this post.
Cons: I don't know. She's an Australian (Isn't that a con?) <grin> 🙂
